About Image to Text (OCR)

Turn images into machine-readable text without uploading a single byte. Powered by a Tesseract.js neural OCR engine compiled to WebAssembly, this tool recognizes printed text in photos of documents, whiteboards, receipts, screenshots, and book pages — entirely inside your browser tab. Because the recognition model and language data load from this website (never a cloud OCR API), the tool even keeps working with your connection severed after page load. Extracted text is fully editable before you copy or download it as a .txt file.

Honest Capability Note: Tesseract.js v5 WASM engine with locally-bundled worker, SIMD core, and English language data. Best on 300 DPI-equivalent, well-lit printed text. Confidence score shown per scan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my image sent to any OCR cloud service?

No — and this is the key difference from most free OCR websites. The Tesseract neural network, its web worker, and the English language model are all served from this site and executed inside your browser. Your image never crosses the network.

How accurate is the text recognition?

Accuracy is excellent (typically 95%+) on sharp, straight, high-contrast printed text such as screenshots, scanned documents, and book pages. Handwriting, artistic fonts, heavy glare, or very low resolution reduce accuracy — the tool shows a per-image confidence indicator so you know when to double-check.

Which languages can it read?

This build ships with the English (eng) language model bundled locally for maximum privacy. Additional language models can be added to the platform later without changing the tool.

How is this different from the PDF to Text (OCR) tool?

That tool starts from a PDF document (with OCR fallback for scanned pages). This tool accepts any ordinary image — a phone photo, a screenshot, a scan — directly, with no PDF conversion step in between.
