Frequently Asked Questions
Can it open password-protected ZIP files?
Standard (ZipCrypto) password-protected archives can be extracted after you enter the password. Archives using AES-256 encryption (e.g. from WinRAR/7-Zip with AES selected) are not supported by the browser-side ZIP engine — extract those with a desktop tool first.
What is the maximum size I can pack or unpack?
Processing happens in your device's RAM, so practical limits depend on your hardware — archives up to a few hundred megabytes work comfortably on modern machines. Free-tier per-file limits apply; Premium removes them.
Are my files uploaded when zipping or unzipping?
No. Both operations run 100% in your browser using JavaScript. Compare that with typical online unzip services, which require uploading your entire archive to their servers first.
Can I add files into folders inside the ZIP?
Yes. In Create mode each selected file can be assigned a folder path, so you can build organized archive structures (e.g. docs/report.pdf, photos/img1.jpg) before packing.
